So I picked up Sims Medieval last week since I was kind of in the mood for that type of themed game and played it through. Not really what I figured it would end up being especially since you can’t do much more to expand on the current kingdom. I was under the impression that once you finished the first ambition, you unlocked a new ambition and continued building your castle/kingdom from the first game. That’s not how this game works. Instead you start over again but you get different options for your ‘ambition’. Like you get more quest points so you have the opportunity to do more quests in that ambition, or the goal is to have security ahead of health and culture etc. It was good the first time I played it through but it quickly became rather boring. Not that I didn’t enjoy it for what it is, but I kind of felt like it should have been a bit more challenging. Oh well…

Speaking of games, I’ve been playing a few lately though only on and off as I’ve been spending a lot of my time off building gundams and doing other things. The games I have been playing are Dawn of War 2: Retribution, Sims Medievil (as mentioned), a bit of Sims 3 (very little) and Dragon Age Origins. I ended up downloading the full game through the EA store. It didn’t cost much and as it was the ultra edition I got all the extras that I would have had to have paid for had I gone through my PS3 version. Yeah I know, must be a bit of a waste of money to buy the game for the PS3 and then buy it again for the PC, however the PS3 version was cheap (dirt cheap) so I don’t see much of a loss there and I have played it almost all the way through. My new PC has had very little to do other than playing Sims 3 and a bit of Starcraft 2 (which I haven’t played again since the beginning of the year) and since its got great graphics etc, I figured it would be better to play on. I now understand why others have said this game works better on PC than on consoles. I love playing it on the PC far more than on the PS3 and so… I’m now downloading Dragon Age 2 for the PC lol. Yes, I did get the PS3 version at its regular retail price, however I am intending to take that into EB Games soon and will use it to trade in for another game. The PC version is the download copy (again from EA Store) and as a bonus I get Mass Effect 2 for the PC for nothing! Plus some Bioware points! Not that I really need ME2 since I’ve already played it through twice on the 360 lol but its pretty cool nonetheless.

With Dragon Age II, I was still mulling it over when I watched a review of it. Now I know that people are not as impressed with this game as DAO however I still found it to be reasonably enjoyable and liked the idea of my character actually talking instead of standing there staring dumbly at the person they were ‘conversing’ with. The review pretty much said the same as everyone else has – its a good game, though not as good as its predecessor. Bioware fixed things that were not broken in the previous game which is part of the disappointment, along with there being only a human for your choice as its obvious they were trying to emulate Mass Effect in this new game. The overhead camera for the PC version is gone (boooo!) but you can apparently zoom in and out a bit. They still said that its better on the PC as the console versions take a while to load between each section and even recommended loading the whole game on the 360 to avoid all the sound glitches and lengthy waiting times. I’m kind of looking forward to playing it through on the PC (didn’t complete it on the PS3 yet).

For the past few weeks I’ve been on a break from work. I’d really been looking forward to it and its been a great rest so far. As mentioned before I have spent some time putting together some Gundam kits as well as a non-gundam kit. I’ve taken some photos and will be putting up a gallery soon (I know I’ve said this before but I really will put a gallery up soon). I got myself another 1/144 Aile Strike Gundam kit. My previous one has lost a few bits and pieces and considering the kit only costs just under $12 I figured why not. Its one of my favourite 1/144 kits so I wanted to get it and this time its panel-lined, unlike the previous one. The previous one was one of the earlier kits I started getting when I first began collecting HG and MG kits and at the time I didn’t have a great deal of knowledge about panel-lining so the intent this time was to definitely get that done. I guess I should try graduating to painting next but I don’t have anywhere here at home that I can do that except outside and that’s not really an option. I’ve also got the HG 1/144 Kshatriya kit ready to go and am hoping to begin working on that soon. The box for this kit is as big as some of the smaller MG 1/100 kits which is pretty cool. I’ve discovered that you can buy resin kits but you have to fork out something like $300+ for one and I’m not really sure I have the skills to be able to put one together. The kit I’ve seen for the Kshatriya is pretty cool though. I’ve also just ordered a couple more gundam kits. One is a grunt unit (I like a lot of the grunt units) and the other is MG 1/100 Strike Freedom Full Burst Mode. Its a kit that is normally around 7000 Yen, but HLJ have been having a sale and its now 4900 (about $55AUD). There are only two versions of this kit that are above this particular version, the “Extra Finish” MG kit which is 7000yen, and the 1/60 Perfect Grade kit which is 15,000 Yen (about $170AUD). I have an HG 1/100 version of this kit but the MG is always better. I’ve found that HG’s are better in 1/144 scale than 1/100 scale. If you get a kit that is 1/100 scale you’re better off paying the extra money and getting an MG version. I’ve not yet bought a PG (the only one I’m interested in is the Strike Gundam but its always out of stock) but its something I want to do eventually.

My Figma collection has stalled while I wait for the new ones to be released though the first lot that will come are Nendoroids not Figmas (two from Bakuman). The Black Gold Saw figma came out at last and it looks great. I think out of the three that are released so far, Black Gold Saw is the best. They now have Strength, the next Black Rock Shooter figma up for pre-order, though they’ve stopped taking orders at HLJ because obviously a lot of people jumped in early… like me! I did have one figma listed previously that I’ve now changed my mind over and have ended up cancelling the order before she was released. It was the maid figma that was due out this month. She may be out already but I have chosen not to pick her up now. The two Nendoroid figures from Bakuman are supposed to be released at the end of the month. That will bring my Nendoroid collection to 4 lol. Mighty small in comparison to my figma collection that is still growing!

I’m still working on my sites, though I guess not as much as I probably should while on holidays, however in having this break it just gives me the opportunity to get things done that I wouldn’t normally be able to over a weekend and also go out a bit more (you know, like in the fresh air kind of thing lol). If I have the opportunity I’m hoping to go to see Thor this coming Friday. It comes out here in Australia on Thursday but I can’t make it Thursday. Friday is Good Friday but it shouldn’t stop the cinemas from opening so I’ll see if I can get there this Friday. Unfortunately (or fortuntely depending on your point of view) its school holidays here so there’ll be a lot of kids, but considering its also a really long weekend with Good Friday, Easter Monday and the Anzac holiday on Tuesday, a lot of people will use this time to travel – at least that’s what I’m hoping for. Anyway I’d like to see the movie. It comes out at least a week before its release in the US, which is what happened last year when Ironman 2 came out, and since I don’t go back to work until next Thursday I may as well take advantage of this time off and go and see it. I haven’t really been paying much attention to anything about it and because of this, I think that’s why it took me by surprise that it was coming out now. I don’t intend to watch lots of previews etc before I go and see it so hopefully it will be a good movie without me getting sucked in by the hype. If I do see it this week, I’ll be sure to post up something about it ^_^

I’ve been through more music devices than I can count, and I’ve always been happiest with the Apple line, especially now that the drives are all flash! Glad to hear you’re happy with your purchases. 😀
