As you know I’ve become a big fan of figmas recently. My collection is growing with a couple on pre-order and now that I know ShinTokyo sell them, I have the option of buying from them as well as my usual online stores.
Recently I’ve been screencapping Code Geass for Animay, and while culling the files it kind of gave me a bit of nostalgia about the series, even if it is only a few years old lol. I then started regretting that I never got the Lelouch figma when it was released back in 2008. Sadly, it was a special edition release and as I didn’t know a lot about figmas at the time (they were pretty new back then) I didn’t buy it, and now its pretty much impossible to find one.
However, knowing this I decided to go onto eBay to see if I could strike it lucky. I knew before I even attempted to look for it that it would be very expensive since Max Factory don’t manufacture it anymore but I was willing to spend the money if it meant I could have Lelouch in my possession. I was a little nervous about doing this, but I’ve spent big on Gundam Master Grade kits so I just thought the same thing of purchasing this toy lol. I found Lelouch, only a few of him available and at prices ranging from $120US to $199.99US. Along with him, I also discovered they’d released a Suzaku Kururugi figma at the same time, though you could only get him through the Wonderfest. There were even less of him on ebay but he was surprisingly a lot cheaper than Lelouch (I’d say that’s because Lelouch would have been more in demand than Suzaku). Anyway, I decided on the vendor I was going to purchase them both from (I had to have both once I saw Suzaku was available too) and made the purchase with my eyes closed – I was regretting paying the amount but knew that there would be no way I could get it any cheaper unless Max Factory were willing to re-release the figma. And that was doubtful. The vendor did warn me that the boxes for each figma had some minor damage so I did worry a bit about what sort of minor damage they were talking about. To be honest, I wasn’t so fussed on the condition of the box, rather I was more concerned that the figma’s themselves would be in good condition.
As you can see, they arrived today! Can you spot anything wrong with them? Neither can I! In fact the ‘damage’ they were talking about were the corners of the box being ever so slightly worn but nothing more than that! I know some collectors can be rather full on when they want something in mint condition and if the box is slightly damaged like mine was, they’d be having fits about it lol. But I’m really glad that they came in such good condition! Of course, with the price I’m now thinking of getting single display cases for each of them, only to protect my investment of course!
