Well its almost 11pm and all I’ve done is upload a small number of images to the image gallery site tonight. I keep getting distracted by other things, though funnily enough they’re all ReBoot related lol. There’s a post by one of the pitch producers where he asks what’s the difference between the Net and the Web, as the ReBoot universe seems to indicate that they are two distinctly different realms. Many people had different ideas, mine was that it could be like our government system where we have an Internet site that is visible/accessible by the public, and we also have an Intranet site, which is only visible to government departments. The more I thought on it, though, I ended up changing my mind lol.

Its quite possible that the whole thing is based on something like star systems, where we have planets (representing the systems) with direct routes between each one (wormholes perhaps? though wormholes are supposedly unstable, unless of course you have a Stargate… >_>) The area between is Space, which could be the representation of the Web. Its a place thats huge, relatively little is known about it, and there are a lot of spots which are pretty dangerous (black holes, some nebulas etc) Or perhaps the writers didn’t go this deeply into it lol. I re-watched a few episodes tonight – hence the lack of rebuilding – and listened and watched over what was being said. In Episode 209 “Trust No One”, a huge explosion creates a tear in Mainframe which is then converted to a portal to the net by a web creature that somehow got into Mainframe (its explained in Season 4 that Daemon sent the web creature through Hexadecimal’s mirror), but that didn’t really explain much about it at all. In Episode 308 (or 3.1.4) “The Episode With No Name”, Matrix exclaims at the beginning that they’ve landed in a system with Ports to the Net and that they will now be allowed to travel back to Mainframe. This seems to indicate that not all systems are connected to the Net, though this could mean that the systems they came across are firewalled, or are not part of a network (but then how would the game get into the system unless they were physically transported via a saved disk or e-mailed). Then in Episode 310 (or 3.3.2) “Edge of Beyond”, we see the world labelled as “The Edge of Beyond”. To me this seems to be like the space that is in between the net and the web. They find bits of dead web creatures as well as a pod which gives birth to a web creature so there would have to be some connection to the web here. Ray Tracer uses his skills to turn a massive tear into a portal to the web, but after they head through it, the tear reforms rapidly behind them. In 209, this was not the case, the portal remained open until Megabyte used the weapon they’d constructed to close it. The interesting part is that Mr Andrews, who is ‘piloting’ the Saucy Mare through the Web mentions how difficult it is to steer because of the ‘density of the data’. The Web, then, is made up completely of data that is not formatted properly and with the web being so big, there’s a LOT of data out there, some of which is unstable and ends up forming a data storm. I think there is also an episode in Season 3 which talks about finding Mainframe’s address, and I’m assuming its the IP of the computer that they’re referring to, but its not really clear.

Anyway, so I’ve spent some time going over all that instead of rebuilding the site. And here I was hoping to get it up and running in no time… *sigh*

So I’m hoping that the results will say that my ankle is damaged because forking out $71 for two ruddy pictures is not my idea of fun. I really had no idea how much it would cost, although I did know that I had to pay the amount up front in full as they do not allow just the payment of the medicare gap. So I’m hoping that I will get a cheque back for at least half of that amount, especially if the films say there isn’t any problems with my ankle (though it was ruddy sore today after the way she kept twisting and moving it to get it into the right spot to take the x-ray). I could have waited around for the results but it would have been at least an hour and I needed to get into work for a meeting this morning so I just left it with them to forward to my Dr.

Today’s work was, well not much work lol. I had a number of meetings and kept being called upon for help for various reasons in between these meetings. As a result I didn’t get any of my own work done today, but I’m sure it will still be there in the morning, perhaps with a bit more added to it -_-.

ReBoot is returning. Its absolutely fantastic news. However, its seeming more and more like it’ll take longer to get to the point where we’ll actually see something on TV or on DVD. The reason I say this is because the fandom is just so picky about what they want to see that its going to be almost impossible. I’m still a ‘glass-is-half-full’ gal on this one, I’m still hoping that we’ll see something out of this, but I’m kind of getting tired of going over to the Zeros 2 Heroes website and seeing nothing but complaints. I think its only now that some fans are getting it, its just something to get ReBoot back out from its hiding spot for all to see. Only the fans know of its existence, others don’t know what the heck we’re talking about.

What’s basically happening is that Rainmaker Entertainment who now own Mainframe Entertainment, the original creators, have decided that they will definitely bring it back. The thing is that it costs money to produce a new series or a new movie, and they need the investors to put some money into this before anything happens next. To get the investors interested, however, they need to let them know that there is still a market out there for the continuation of the series and to do this they have to start small and work their way up until they get what they want (and what us fans want). So they’re starting out with a comic. They’ve joined up with an online community that’s just started out called (as I’ve mentioned a few times already) Zeros 2 Heroes. Its a place where comic artists and writers can come together and basically throw some pitches together for… well comics. Currently its ReBoot that’s the main topic, though there are a few members who’ve signed up that are there for other comic ideas which is good too. What Rainmaker has done is find 5 writers and a group of artists and given them the opportunity to put out their pitches for a new idea based on ReBoot. The pitches are then judged by fans and voted on and the one that wins the highest votes will of course end up being published.

It all sounded pretty cool and I went into it with an open mind. Unfortunately not many other people did. The pitches were torn to shreds, and although they did seem a bit out there at first, I decided to re-read them over a few times before I could make up my own mind. The idea behind this is to give some constructive criticism to the writers and even assist in changing the ideas they’ve thrown out at us. However, a lot of fans are too busy complaining about how ‘un-ReBoot-like it is’ and how ‘it sucks completely’. A few of us who have been pretty open towards these ideas are getting a tad frustrated at having to remind fans that this is the beginning of something that could potentially be really big, but we have to give as much support as possible in order for that to happen. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times we say it, its not getting through, although I am slowly starting to see some changes in the community. Some are warming to one idea which may actually come out as the winner from the looks of things, though I think the concept art was something to do with it. There’s another pitch which some fans are also leaning towards so we’ll have to see how things develop between these two particular pitches. Changes are being made to some based on ideas an suggestions from fans, which is a good thing, and in showing that it can happen that way, the fans that were pretty peeved about all the ideas are now starting to come around.

I’m hoping it will all come good and we’ll get some positive feedback on everything. And the most important thing, getting investors to notice and become a part of this so we can see more of our beloved series.

Okay now onto other crap lol. I’ve not been sleeping very well lately, in fact for the past few weeks I’ve been sleeping poorly – usually I just doze instead of getting some proper z’s. Its tiring me out quickly during the day and making it hard to concentrate especially as I get really tired in the afternoon. So I’ve picked up some Valerian tablets (high potency version). They are a type of ‘vitamin’ so to speak (they are in the vitamins section of the pharmacy) and can be bought off the shelf. They actually act as a relaxant rather than something that puts you to sleep, but they do help (only if you remember to take them…) Its already late now so hopefully I can get into that deep sleep and feel relaxed and ready for tomorrow.

Tomorrow is going to be hectic (or hell). I’m heading off to get my ankle x-rayed in the morning. Its been giving me grief for a while so the Dr said I should probably get it checked just to be on the safe side. The downside for getting the x-ray is that you have to pay in full and get what Medicare owe you later. The upside, well we’ll have to wait and see what the results are. After that I’ll head straight into work where I’ve got a few things to do, some are minor some are major things. The minor things are that its my boss’ birthday coming up next weekend so I’ve got a card which I’m going to send around the floor tomorrow morning and ask people to donate towards a present. I’ve also got to book us in for lunch on Thursday to celebrate his birthday (its a big one) and all of our team will be available on that day. Then I’ve got to organise for a morning tea on Friday so that everyone else can come and celebrate with him. I’ve also got a meeting regaring the department’s website and I’m on a panel for a position in the afternoon. I’m hoping that there hasn’t been a huge number of people who applied for the position lol, only because I don’t want to be hanging around all afternoon reading applications. The nights will be pretty much spent on working on the RBM website and trying to get it completed as quickly as possible (I don’t think it will be completed by this weekend lol), and I’m still downloading anime though I haven’t had much of a chance to watch any.

Woo, it seems the valerian is starting to kick in a bit lol. I’ve got a couple more things to do so I’d better get them done now before I fall asleep at my PC lol.
