The End – for the first time!

I’m just now watching the ending credits of “Final Fantasy XII” – yes, I’ve finished the game. And its the first ruddy FF game I’ve ever finished!!! Its the only FF game that I’ve not grown bored of so I’d have to say its been the best of the series. A lot of people hated the new battle system but I really enjoyed and appreciated it only because the new battle system allowed me to level up a hell of a lot quicker than any of the previous games did. Although I did finish the storyline of the game, I didn’t finish all the hunts and side-quests, nor did I get all the Espers (though I found them useless anyway and very rarely used them) but I was still levelled high enough to defeat the final boss so I guess it didn’t matter. I loved the Quickenings, and used them multiple times until I got nearer the end of the game and then most bosses I just beat the crap out of lol :p

I’m now probably going to be bored since its finished. I doubt I’ll play it again for a long time – at the moment I’m still savouring the fact that I saw it through to the end.

I’m enjoying my time off so far. Not done a lot but that’s better than being over-worked and completely stressed every day at work. We shifted our floors and I went back on Monday to sort out my desk and show the incoming temp what to do (though she put me under more stress before I left!) Went out for dinner with a group of friends on Tuesday night to a new place I hadn’t been to before and the food was excellent. We usually meet up once a term (school term) for dinner and each of us choose a place to go and then follow through with the bookings and we organise a time to do it, usually closer to the end of each term. Originally we all were from the same district office, but after I left and returned to state office, one other moved to a different district, and two of them took up jobs in state office leaving just one behind. We all still keep in touch and my job is such that I still work with them in the district offices. I will be heading out to the district office next week to catch up with a couple of them for lunch.

Its also been fairly quiet here which is pretty good. I wouldn’t really expect too much noise or trouble from hoons (we do have quite a few around our area) during the week but sometimes they do pick an odd night to suddenly drive up and down our road like maniacs. We also often hear idiots walking along the road talking loudly or shouting at each other with threats of violence (doesn’t amount to anything though). But as I said, its been relatively quiet though I’ve been sleeping fairly soundly lately lol so I guess I wouldn’t hear much anyway.

Because I’ve been playing the PS2 lately I’ve not been watching a lot of anime, though it hasn’t stopped me from downloading. Today I watched a few different episodes before I picked up the controller and finished the game (yay!) The PS3 got released here yesterday, several months after it was released in the US – which seems to be the norm at the moment, we get told its coming out at the same time and then we get delay after delay after delay before it finally comes out. I have no interest in it at the moment, not until the next FF game comes out. Currently that’s still in development in Japan and it probably won’t be ready for release until the end of this year or early 2008, which would mean it would be at least another year before it arrives here so I have plenty of time to save up for one lol. I actually wouldn’t mind getting an X-box 360 as there is a new game being developed for that system by one of the FF creators. Its an RPG as well and from the imagery I’ve seen so far it looks really good. The X-Box 360 is still fairly expensive so I may wait a little while longer before I get that one too…

I can see the light!!

It’s been a while since my last post… quite a while. Nevertheless my excuse is fairly simple. Final Fantasy XII. I’ve been playing it fairly regularly which is kind of shocking considering I tend to play games for a weekend and then forget about them. Not with this game. Its mostly been due to someone at work having the game and the two of us comparing notes about the levels we are at and what stage of the storyline we have gotten to. I guess having a bit of competition has been the spurring on I needed to continue playing the game!! I am actually enjoying it, though, so its not like that’s the only reason I’m continuing the game.

The most exciting thing is that I’m now officially on 3 weeks leave. Woohoo!!! The only thing is that I will be going into work on Monday morning – and at my normal early time of 7.30am. The reason is because our whole section has moved floors, with the removalists taking everything to our new floor over this weekend. There is also someone coming in to replace me while I’m on leave (a temp) and I want to go in to sort my desk out at my new spot before the temp arrives and then show them what to do. It’ll still be mostly chaos on Monday for everyone as its a large group of us moving to the same floor, so the temp will most likely be helping out everyone where needed and then from Tuesday onwards will assume my role properly. I am really looking forward to this break, though I’m not overly stressed or anything, I’m just happy about having this time off. My mother, who currently lives with me, is heading off on a holiday so its a double-celebration for me lol, I get to finally have some ‘me’ time ^_^b I won’t be going anywhere, can’t afford to do that at the moment, but just relaxing and doing what I need to do at my own pace is all I need.

I’ve not really been doing a whole hell of a lot since my last post (other than FFXII), though I have been catching up on Naruto as the new series is out. I am hoping to either complete the first series soon (watching it) or at least get to the point where the episodes no longer take the story any further and I can jump across to the new series.

I finally went to the Dr to check out my ankle… I was only 3 weeks late heh ^_^; but it wasn’t getting any better and I wanted to be doubly sure it wasn’t anything really really bad. It turns out it IS bad but not life-threatening lol. Basically I’ve torn the lateral ligament in my right ankle. There’s not a lot that can be done other than strapping it up and giving it as much support as possible. The Dr said it can take up to 3 months to heal and that the ankle will be weak for the rest of my life. I reckon, though, that its going to take longer than 3 months to heal since I’m constantly up and down from my desk and moving about a lot at work so the pressure still remains on it. She showed me the best way to strap up the ankle using some of that tape and putting it into what she calls ‘stirrup style’. It actually worked really well, the support was great and I had no real problems, though there were just the odd day here and there where my ankle played up a bit. Unfortunately I soon discovered I was allergic to the tape as my skin broke out in a bright red rash and it was almost to the point of burning. I ended up taking some antihistamine’s and put some antiseptic cream onto my leg to try and get the rash under control (I have these stripes on my leg now where the tape used to be lol). I also had to wrap my ankle in a normal bandage as that’s all I could do to support it. A friend at work did tell me you could buy hypo-allergenic tape though I haven’t seen any in any of the chemists. Since I’m on leave at the moment I’ll be able to rest it more but I don’t want to spend every day sitting around on my ass!! I may have to search around for alternatives (I did buy a bandage that you pull on like a sock but it causes too much swelling in my foot and gives me more pain :( )
